Japan issued a tsunami advisory
early Saturday after a strong 6.8-magnitude quake struck in the Pacific
off Fukushima prefecture, authorities said.
The
Japan Meteorological Agency said a local tsunami of up to one metre
(3.3 feet) could impact the Pacific coastline in Fukushima, Iwate and
Miyagi prefectures after the quake, whose epicentre US geologists placed
at a depth of 13 kilometres.
